The Town of Coaldale has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), for their Annual Report for the year-ended December 31, 2018. The award is presented to municipal governments throughout Canada who publish high-quality financial reports that meet the standards of the program.
The Town’s Annual Report for the year-ended December 31, 2018 has been judged by impartial Canadian Review Committee members to meet high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the municipality’s financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The award was presented to the Town’s Corporate Services Department on February 14, 2020 and was officially recognized by Coaldale Town Council at the Regular Council Meeting of March 9, 2020.
“As a recipient of the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting, we are demonstrating our commitment to providing transparent and easily readable financial information to our residents, local businesses, and other stakeholders,” said Kyle Beauchamp, Director of Corporate Services for the Town of Coaldale. “This accomplishment is something that the Town of Coaldale and our community can be truly proud of; something we’ll be striving to achieve each and every year moving forward.”
“Council has identified financial reporting and transparency as a central pillar to Council’s Strategic Plan. We are proud of this accomplishment in achieving this goal”, said Mayor Kim Craig.
