My name is Dale Pickering. I was raised on the family farm in the Coaldale area. I attended Kate Andrews High School where I met my wife Cheree. We have been married for 38 years. We have made Coaldale our home for 36 years. We have two daughters we raised in Coaldale and three granddaughters. Our oldest daughter lives in Lethbridge with her husband and two of our granddaughters.
Our youngest daughter lives in Coaldale and is engaged with our other granddaughter. Our children also graduated from Kate Andrews High School and went to Lethbridge to further their education.
I started my employment with SMRID in 1981 in construction and maintenance. I recently celebrated forty years of employment with SMRID. I have enjoyed working with farmers, staff, and other companies. My love of farming and agriculture made the job a perfect fit for me. I continue to take time to combine and harvest for other farmers every year.
I spent many years as a strong supporter of my daughters’ playing basketball through their years attending schools in Coaldale. Many hours of travelling, cheering, watching basketball, and volunteering to drive the bus.
I enjoy golfing, as well as fishing on the B.C. coast. I also enjoy vacationing in Mexico and Hawaii.
If you live in Coaldale and walk the SMIRD canal on the new path, you might have seen me with my daughter’s black lab.
