Coaldale's Community Living Room

The Town of Coaldale is making significant strides to enhance community life with the completion of Phase 3 of the Civic Square Project, revealing the much-anticipated Civic Plaza. This new addition to Coaldale’s central development is more than just a gathering space—it serves as "the community's living room," designed to bring residents together across all seasons.

Address: 2007 19 Street

A Year-Round Community Hub

At the heart of Civic Plaza is its adaptability and focus on fostering community engagement. The plaza has been thoughtfully designed to serve as a central hub for various activities, events, and casual gatherings throughout the year. In the warmer months, Civic Plaza will become an inviting space for residents to relax, socialize, or participate in public events such as markets, festivals, and outdoor performances.

However, what truly makes Civic Plaza unique is its ability to transform with the seasons. Beneath the outdoor gathering area lies a network of refrigeration lines, allowing the plaza to convert into a picturesque outdoor ice rink during the winter months. This feature makes Civic Plaza a perfect destination for ice skating, a beloved winter pastime for many in Coaldale.

Hours of operation:

Whether it’s a family outing, a romantic skate under the stars, or a holiday skate with Santa, Civic Plaza offers an enjoyable way for people of all ages to make the most of the colder months. This winter transformation adds a unique charm to downtown, encouraging residents to stay active and connected despite the chill in the air.
