The Southern Alberta Summer Games is an all-ages multi-sport event that was first held in Pincher Creek in 1970 with the intent to provide an opportunity for those in many different sports, age groups and skill levels to compete in regional competitions. Since then, the Summer Games have grown exponentially and is now the longest running annual sporting event in Alberta.
Each year, the Games are hosted by a different Southern Alberta community. This year, the Town of Coaldale, in partnership with Lethbridge County, will serve as host to the Games. The following sporting events are being offered:
- 3/5/10 km run
- badminton
- baseball
- basketball (3 on 3)
- beach volleyball
- cribbage
- darts
- equestrian
- esports
- flag football
- golf
- lacrosse
- mountain biking
- photography
- pickleball
- soccer/mini soccer
- swimming
- track & field
- weightlifting
In addition to the sporting events, there will be a variety of cultural events. Over the four days of the Games, we're expecting 1800 athletes will participate from the 13 regions in Southern Alberta.
