New Bylaw Officers join the Municipal Enforcement team led by Manager of Community Policing, Mark Anderson
--
The Town of Coaldale is honoured to welcome its newest members of the Town’s Municipal Enforcement team: Devon Nielsen, Scott Elford and Alan Nilsson.
Coaldale’s Municipal Enforcement Program was redesigned earlier this year following the conclusion of the three-year Coaldale & District Municipal Enforcement pilot program in 2019. The Town of Coaldale and Coaldale & District Emergency Services conducted extensive community engagement in 2020 to ensure that community needs were captured in the redesign of the program.
“The 122 responses that were collected during the public engagement period helped provide clear direction for the delivery of the program,” said Clayton Rutberg, Town of Coaldale Deputy Fire Chief of Public Safety. “The redesigned program will embody the values put forth by the community and provide a robust level of enforcement of our community bylaws.”
Based on the feedback collected as well as budget and service analysis performed by CDES, the new enforcement program will see a full complement of enforcement staff able to provide a high service level to manage complaints and deliver proactive enforcement.
Fire Chief Kevin McKeown officially welcomed our new Manager of Community Policing, Mark Anderson, in May of this year and together with Julie Garbutt, Emergency Services Coordinator, are pleased to see the Coaldale and District Municipal Enforcement program integrate with Emergency Services.
“I am pleased to see the positive changes that are happening to our CPO Program and I look forward to having our new officers serve the public with pride under the direction of the Manager of Community policing,” said Coaldale Fire Chief Kevin McKeown. “We appreciate the feedback from the public, and with Council’s direction we are excited to see this program get started.”
“Our new CPO program will be more robust and follow what the community has identified as important to build a strong, community-focused program,” said Mark Anderson, Manager of Community Policing. “Our new Bylaw Officers are excited to get started and serve the community.”
The new hires will serve as Bylaw Officers until they complete their CPO training in the fall of 2021.
