The final numbers are in, and the Town of Coaldale is proud to announce its victory in the 2025 Smile Cookie Challenge! Thanks to the incredible generosity and enthusiasm of the community, Coaldale raised a grand total of $13,124.00, edging out its friendly rivals in Taber, who also put forward an outstanding effort with $11,602.00 raised.

Together, the two communities generated an impressive $24,726.00 in support of Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) youth programs—a true testament to the power of community spirit and collaboration.

“We could never have done it without the overwhelming support we received throughout the week,” said Town of Coaldale Mayor Jack Van Rijn. “From every individual who bought a cookie—or a dozen—to the businesses that placed pre-orders, and the volunteers who gave their time and energy, thank you. You helped us push across the finish line in the best possible way.”

Several key individuals (pictured below) who made the campaign such a huge success include:

  • Kim Fehr and Madison Hanson, FCSS staff whose leadership and energy helped organize the campaign;
  •  Corey Persson, owner of Coaldale’s Tim Hortons;
  • Deputy Mayor Lisa Reis and Councillor Bill Chapman, who helped decorate cookies, deliver orders, and spread the word;
  • And the many volunteers who decorated, packed, delivered, and cheered all week long.

The Town would also like to thank Town of Taber Mayor, Andrew Prokop, MD of Taber Reeve, Tamara Miyanaga, and Lethbridge County Reeve, Tory Campbell, for embracing the spirit of the challenge and helping amplify the impact of Smile Cookie Week.
