The Town of Coaldale is pleased to announce the reopening of its Rain Barrel Rebate Program.
Originally launched in 2024, the program provides residents with a 50% rebate on the purchase of a rain barrel, up to a maximum of $50 per barrel. The program will remain open until October 1, 2025, or until a designated fund of $15,000 has been depleted.
“As a Council, we recognize that responsible water management is essential not only during times of crisis but as part of our long-term vision for Coaldale’s future,” said Town of Coaldale Mayor, Jack Van Rijn. “Last year, our region was on the verge of a severe drought, which reinforced just how critical it is to have proactive conservation measures in place. But water conservation isn’t just about weathering dry years—it’s about ensuring the sustainability of our water supply so that our community can continue to grow and thrive. Every drop we save today helps support Coaldale’s future, whether it’s by reducing pressure on our infrastructure, preserving green spaces, or enabling future development. This rebate program is a simple yet effective way for residents to be part of the solution while also receiving a financial incentive. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity. Buy a barrel, get a rebate, and start saving water today.”
Program Rules
- There is a limit of 1 barrel per residence.
- Only rain barrels purchased after January 1, 2025, are eligible for this rebate.
- Rain barrel purchases made through classified ads are not eligible for this rebate.
- Rain barrel conversion kits are not eligible for this rebate.
- Other storage containers (totes, plastic garbage bins etc.) are not eligible for this rebate.
- The program will remain open until October 1, 2025, or until a designated fund of $15,000 has been depleted.
- Rebates will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis.
Residents interested in applying for the rebate can submit their applications online at https://www.coaldale.ca/rain-barrel-rebate-program or in person at the Town Office. Rebates will be issued as a credit on residential utility bills, and both property owners and renters are eligible to apply. Proof of purchase in the form of a receipt is required.
