The Town of Coaldale is transforming the old John Davidson School (2016 19 St Coaldale, Alberta) into a chilling haunted house, filled with eerie sights and surprises around every corner. Brave the walk-through during Halloween week—if you dare!

There is no cost to walk through Coaldale's Haunted School, however, donations of cash, cheque or non-perishable food items to the Coaldale Food Bank are greatly appreciated.

Important Information

  • There is no heat or running water in the building, so dress accordingly and do not attempt to use the bathrooms in the building. 
  • Bathrooms are available in the North building at Civic Plaza across the street (19th Street). 
  • This is primarily a self-guided walk-through experience. Please enter through the main doors on the East side of the building.
  • The entrance, gymnasium and north wing of the school will be spooky but still relatively kid-friendly and the south wing of the school will be for more mature audiences with live actors and jump scares. 
  • Parking is available along the street on the East side of the building, or in the parking lot on the Southeast side of the building.
  • Expect to spend approximately 10 - 15 minutes inside the school to fully enjoy the experience. 
  • Due to Halloween landing on a Friday this year, this event will replace the annual Halloween Family Dance typically held at the Gem of the West Museum the Friday before Halloween. 
  • Children aged 12 and under need to be accompanied by an adult (16+) while within the School. 

WARNING: This event contains flashing lights, fog, and strobe effects that may trigger seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised. 

WARNING: This is an all-ages event, but please be advised that there will be some spooky Halloween decorations on display and the experience may involve some jump scares. Parental discretion advised is advised.
