Owl’s Nest Campground construction is well underway, one of several highly-anticipated amenities coming to Coaldale this summer.

“Over this past Council term, we’ve been focused on building and improving access to recreational amenities in Coaldale,” said Coaldale Mayor Kim Craig. “We’ve been particularly focused on increasing access to amenities in all parts of Town; for the eastern portion of Coaldale, we’ve successfully completed a major revitalization of Eastview Park, seen significant upgrades to the Christian school playground, and are very excited about the brand new mountain bike park next to the Coaldale dog park. The revival of Owl’s Nest Campground is the cherry on top of a number of other projects in the works that will continue to make Coaldale a great place to visit or to raise a family.”

The campground is expected to open later this summer.

“We are very excited about the development and future operation of Owl’s Nest Campground and being able to invest back into our community,” said Ronda Nielsen, Owner of Owl’s Nest Campground. “Coaldale is our home, and our preferred destination to live, work and play.”
The Town will share a number of public amenities with the campground, including the mountain bike park and adjoining pathways, parking stalls, and a sanitary dump station.

“We’ve been camping for many years and recognize the importance of having necessary facilities like washrooms, showers and a sanitary dump station,” said Nielsen. “We will also be offering some sites with power, sewer and water to help make your camping experience more relaxing. As an added bonus, just a couple of the close by amenities that we are most excited for is the Cor Van Raay Link pathway and the mountain bike park.”

The Cor Van Raay LINK Pathway is another highly-anticipated amenity expected to break ground this summer. The LINK Pathway is a 15-km paved barrier-free accessible pedestrian and bicycle path that will connect the west end of the Town of Coaldale to the east end of the City of Lethbridge.

Additional amenities in Coaldale nearby the campground include:
•    State-of-the-art mountain bike park (coming soon!)
•    Several restaurants and pubs
•    The Quads sports fields
•    Coaldale swimming pool
•    Pickleball, tennis and basketball courts
•    Off-leash dog park

“This project will have a number of economic spin-offs by driving more visitor traffic to Coaldale’s businesses and local facilities,” said Mayor Craig. “This project is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside private business to ensure Coaldale has a diverse array of recreational amenities.”
“The best part is that during hot summer days, you can stop by the Coaldale pool to cool off, or grab a refreshment from one of the local pubs,” added Nielsen. “We can’t wait to host you at the Owl’s Nest Campground!”
