The Town of Coaldale is elated to announce the Kasko Family has donated $250,000 to the Coaldale STRONG! capital campaign.

The Coaldale STRONG! capital campaign is a fundraiser to generate philanthropic support that will help ensure Coaldale’s brand-new multi-use recreation centre is fully stocked with the equipment required to facilitate full programming upon opening.

“Our family has been fortunate to be raised in the Coaldale area and we are thankful that we can contribute to this project,” said Ryan Kasko, manager at Kasko Cattle Ltd. “We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community in a way that will serve future generations for decades to come.”

Ryan’s father, Les, was born and raised in Coaldale, making Ryan and his two siblings, Greg and Rhonda, third-generation Coaldale residents. The Kasko and Lang families are now raising their own children in Coaldale.

“Recreation is important to our family; our kids have been active playing sports in the community,” said Kasko. “We love that the new recreation centre will be designed for and used by everyone from kids to seniors. To think that one day even our future grandkids could still be using the facility is really something special.”

The recreation centre is currently being constructed and will be connected to Coaldale’s brand new 7-12 school.

“The new facility will keep more kids engaged in going to school in Coaldale rather than driving to Lethbridge,” said Kasko. “We’ll have the ability to attract bigger events like provincial tournaments, ultimately bringing more people to our wonderful community. The recreation centre will be a centrepiece of our community and our family is proud to play a role in this incredible project.”

“We’re very grateful to the Kasko Family for their generous donation to the Coaldale STRONG! campaign,” said Russ Tanner, Director of Recreation and Community Services. “Their contribution will help make the recreation centre a top-notch facility putting Coaldale on the map as Southern Alberta’s recreation hub.”
