Coaldale & District Emergency Services Looking For Volunteer/POC Firefighters

Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License with driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour
- Have no criminal record
- Live within the Town of Coaldale boundaries or within a reasonable distance to the firehall approved by the Chief
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR-AED
- Ability to read and communicate in English
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team environment
- Physically and Mentally fit to perform job related functions of firefighting
Preferred Qualifications
- Available to respond to emergency calls during daytime hours
- Current Alberta College of Paramedics registered Practitioner (EMR, PCP, ACP)
- Firefighting/Medical Response Experience
- NFPA Firefighter Training
- Class 2 Alberta drivers license with Air Brakes endorsement
Recruiting Process
- Submit Application form and Resume to Fire Chief; forms are available online from the Town of Coaldale website or pick up an application form from the firehall
- Fire Chief will contact selected applicants for a Panel Interview
- Successful applicants from Interview will be contacted to attend the job specific physical assessment and orientation night
- Tentative position will be offered to selected applicants after successful completion of Physical Assessment
- Police check including vulnerable sector search and 3 year commercial driver’s abstract must be submitted (successful applicants will be reimbursed by Fire Department for any costs associated)
- Firefighter Probationary Period of 1 year (Evaluations after every 3 months)
- Training – It is expected that firefighters are willing to undertake necessary courses and participate in in-house training. Courses that are expected of new firefighters to complete are
- ICS 100
- NFPA 1001 Level 1
- First Aid/CPR if not already certified
