Councillor Duda grew up on a farm outside Coaldale, attended Kate Andrews High School, and has lived in Coaldale with her husband, Ron, and two children for the past 21 years. Sherrie was first elected to Council in 1997 following a by-election, and was re-elected to her sixth term in office in 2010.
Sherrie attended the University of Lethbridge, graduating with a Bachelor of Education in 1992. After working as a substitute teacher for several years, she worked in the Human Resource Department at Kawneer. Today, Sherrie and her husband co-own Advantage Roofing Ltd.
Sherrie joined Town Council because it offered an opportunity to contribute to the Coaldale community. As her volunteer and committee work suggest, she’s passionate about emergency services and policing, recreation and social services. Today, she serves on the Library Board as well as the boards of several non-profit sporting organizations.
Councillor Duda’s hobbies include driving her kids to their after-school activities, reading, scrapbooking, camping, music and sports. Growing up, Sherrie played basketball, badminton, curling and baseball.
