Pool, Tot Lot, and Spray Park Updates

On Tuesday, June 9, a sudden and unexpected announcement from the Premier of Alberta and the Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health was made to accelerate Phase 2 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy. Town Council convened shortly after to discuss the logistics of reopening of the Town Pool, Tot Lot, and Spray Park as well as the challenges and consequences that arise in doing so.

With the risks of COVID-19 still in full effect, these facilities will not be running at full capacity and will have many limitations in place during the 2020 season to help prevent the spread of the virus. Town Administration had been working as quickly as possible to hire and train staff, adjust facility operations to run at a limited capacity, and incorporate new protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

It should be noted that Alberta Health Services (AHS) reserves the right to shut down any of these facilities if patrons are not adhering to the physical distancing guidelines. This stands as an important reminder that the pandemic is not over, and we still need to be working hard to keep each other safe.

The Tot Lot reopened on Monday, June 29 and will close at the end of the season on August 30. Based on the province’s regulations, the Tot Lot can accommodate 6 small family groups at a time to ensure physical distancing can be maintained.

To monitor the capacity of the Tot Lot, attendants will be present to ensure physical distancing guidelines are being followed. We are asking everyone who comes to the Tot Lot to be responsible for keeping their own families safe. There are no sign-ups or time slots so please limit your time and be considerate of other families also wanting to enjoy the Tot Lot.

Spray Park

The Spray Park reopened on Monday, June 29 and will close on September 13. Physical distancing guidelines are still recommended by the province.
