Following a formal request for proposal process, the Town of Coaldale is pleased to announce our new waste collection provider GFL Environmental Inc, who will start operations in Coaldale on October 1st, 2019.
During this transition, Council has directed that the current community recycling site be decommissioned to make way for an improved method of handling excess waste streams. A revised approach to handling excess recycling, in addition to other types of waste, is expected to be presented to Council on the October 7th Regular Council Meeting.
In the mean time, waste collection services will remain virtually unchanged as GFL makes their transition. Residents may still place excess organic yard waste in compostable yard bags during scheduled compost pick-up days until April 1st, 2020. In addition, the Town shop yard will be open on select days to offer an extra opportunity for green branch drop-off later this fall – dates are still to be determined.
Should any errors arise during this changeover, patience is appreciated as the new contractor gets settled in. Residents may report any pick-up errors using our online contact form here. Additional updates, including drop-off dates and program specifics, will be posted on our social media, website, and through direct mail-out in the coming weeks.
