Notice of Bylaw Amendment

NOTICE OF BYLAW AMENDMENT

PROPOSED BYLAW NO. 709-R-11-15

to be considered for second and third reading

at 5:30 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2015

Town of Coaldale Council Chambers – 1920 – 17th Street

The Council of the Town of Coaldale has given first reading to proposed Bylaw No. 709-R-11-15, an amendment to Bylaw No. 535-R-10-4 being the Town of Coaldale Sidewalk Snow Removal Bylaw.

THE PURPOSE of the proposed Bylaw No. 709-R-11-15 is to amend the “Sidewalk Snow Removal Bylaw”

As a result of a safety concern, it is the intent to amend the “Sidewalk Snow Removal Bylaw” prohibiting the use of curb ramps on the street due to the potential hazard for Town snow removal operators. The implication is that residents will no longer be allowed to use these ramps as a way to increase the ease of driveway access.

Rubber curb ramps are permitted except from Oct. 31 to May 1. The proposed bylaw, if approved, would allow rubber curb ramps from May 1 to Oct. 31.

Anyone with concerns about this proposed bylaw or anyone who would like to speak to the matter is asked to contact admin@coaldale.ca or call Janice at 403-345-1306 before December 10, 2015. Residents may also attend the Council Meeting on Dec. 14, 2015 to hear Council review the proposed bylaw but as this is not a public hearing, residents will not be able to speak to the matter unless they have previously indicated a desire to do so as per the above instructions.
