Coaldale’s town council has turned to its own administrative team for an interim Chief Administrative Officer. Mayor Kim Craig announced last week Michelle Overbeeke, chief financial officer, will serve as interim CAO while the town goes through the process of recruiting a new manager for the town. “While the next few weeks will be challenging for our organization, council is confident Michelle, with the cooperation of our management team and all employees, will ensure that we continue to move forward in a positive direction,” said Craig. Overbeeke has been with the town for nine years, starting out as municipal accountant and then moving into the CFO position in 2011.“I feel confident that with the team we have in place we can keep everything status quo until a new CAO is in place,” said Overbeeke. She also hopes for patience and understanding from residents during this transitional phase. She added there may be some delays in project time frames while the town goes through the process of selecting a new CAO. “I feel up to the challenge but I’ll be glad to hand the reins over when the time comes,” she said of her appointment as interim CAO. Town council is currently in the recruiting and hiring process. Overbeeke said she enjoys her position as CFO with the town and is looking forward to having a new CAO in place.
