Solid Waste bylaw reminder

In an effort to ensure alleys and streets in Coaldale are cleared of waste, composting and recycling bins in a timely manner, the Town of Coaldale will be enforcing the bylaw covering the solid waste program.

As per Bylaw 737-R-12-17 Section 20(b) bins are to moved back on to the owner’s property by 7 p.m. on the day of pick-up. Bins can be left out for pick-up no earlier than 7 p.m. the night before pick-up with the exception being Monday statutory holidays.  In this case bins can be left out the Friday before the Monday holiday.

The owner’s property is not the alley. The bins should be removed from the alley and placed back inside the owner’s property. Bins should not be left in the alley except on pick-up days. For those with front yard pick-up, the same rules apply. Bins must be moved back on to the owner’s property by 7 p.m.

Starting in August bins left out on the street or in the alleys after 7 p.m. on pick-up day will receive an orange warning sticker.

After you have received a warning sticker, the address will be recorded. If there is a second violation, a fine will be issued as per the bylaw. Fines range from $50 to $250.
