UPDATE: You asked, we listened. Due to the overwhelming amount of feedback we received, the Town of Coaldale will be extending the survey until June 4, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.

The Federal government, in coordination with the provinces, is in the process of legalizing the possession, consumption, and retail sale of cannabis for non-medical uses.  When that occurs, municipalities will need to ensure they have a clear plan for how they will manage retail cannabis sales in their communities.

In preparation for that, the Town is seeking feedback from its residents and businesses on how they would like the Town to approach the issue of regulating cannabis in the community.

The survey is designed to be the first tool in a broader public discourse toolkit that  will help Town Council and Staff to better develop an approach to regulating cannabis that is right for Coaldale.  We encourage everyone to take the survey and to engage with the Town on this issue over the next few weeks.

I would further encourage anyone who has questions about the survey, or more generally about the issue of regulating cannabis sales in the community, to give me call as I’d be happy to discuss it with them.
