Provincial funds for regional municipal enforcement

The Coaldale and District Municipal Enforcement (CDME) unit hosted the Honourable Shaye Anderson, Minister of Municipal Affairs, in Coaldale on Friday, August 25, 2017.

The CDME  were part of a photo opportunity with the Minister to celebrate the formation of the new municipal enforcement unit which was launched in January. The unit was created and funded through a regional collaboration grant from the Alberta Community Partnership program. The minister, along with Lethbridge East MLA Maria Fitzpatrick, met with officials from the communities involved in the program and presented the $227,000 in grant funding from the province.

The CDME provides education, bylaw enforcement and traffic services to the municipalities of Barons, Coaldale, Coalhurst and Picture Butte.

Joining the Minister were Barons Mayor Ed Weistra, Coaldale Mayor Kim Craig and Picture Butte Mayor Wendy Jones. Also on hand for the presentation were Coaldale Deputy Mayor Jack Van Rijn, Coaldale Councillor Roger Hohm, Coaldale CAO Kalen Hastings, Barons Administrator Laurie Beck, Picture Butte CAO Keith Davis along with Community Peace Officers David Sawatzky and Dustin Burns.
